Until recently the company had two directors namely W. van der Lingen and H. van der Lingen. W. and H. van der Lingen are active members and are working on the premises on a full-time basis. Jewll Industries entered the manufacturing of flameproof equipment because of the nature of the previous involvement and experience gained by two of the directors in this line of work.
The late J. van der Lingen was involved in the manufacturing of flameproof enclosures since June 1983. Mr Van der Lingen headed the flameproof section for 14 years at a company that manufactured various types of enclosures. His main responsibility was the design and manufacture of flameproof products. Since the inception of the flameproof section and for a number of years thereafter he was responsible for the examining of all the flameproof products of the company. W. van der Lingen was involved in the manufacturing of flameproof products on a part-time basis for ten years and then a further three years in a full-time capacity. He attended courses in the inspection of flameproof enclosures and passed the SABS examination in 1996, thereby qualifying as an inspector.
Until retirement in 2003, H. van der Lingen held a senior managerial position in corporate business and thereafter joined Jewll Industries (Pty) Ltd on the financial and administrative side.
